Before you put us in front of your team

# The questions that decide this, not the ones that are easy to answer.

Rimward connects to cameras on critical infrastructure. Product performance alone does not decide the deal. Your IT security team, legal function and night-response owner must approve it.

Where the honest answer is “that is yours, not ours”, it says so.

## Your cameras and your sites

What Rimward can and cannot do with an estate that was installed years ago by someone else.

### Our cameras are a mix of brands, ages and recorders.

That is the normal case. Rimward starts from the cameras and recorders already installed and judges each one on what it actually delivers, not on its datasheet. Anything it cannot read is reported as unknown, never assumed ready.

### Some of our sites have poor connectivity.

Cloud processing is the default and needs a secure, reachable stream. Where bandwidth or reliability will not support that, an optional local gateway processes video on site and sends only events and evidence.

### What does this add to our site data usage?

Cloud processing carries continuous video and suits sites with a fixed line. The gateway sends only qualified events and their evidence, a small fraction of that. Metered mobile sites are usually gateway sites, sized during the assessment.

### What can Rimward actually see at night, or in bad weather?

Only what the installed camera can see. A visible-light camera with no useful illumination at 150 m does not become a detector because software was pointed at it. Anything that cannot support detection is reported as a gap, not counted as coverage.

### The assessment finds gaps. Who fixes them?

You do, with whoever already maintains your cameras. Rimward is software: it does not sell, install or maintain hardware, and it has no commercial interest in how long the gap list is.

## What your IT team will ask

PV plants are critical infrastructure. Any supplier that touches the site network gets reviewed, and it is faster if the answers are already written down.

### What exactly does Rimward connect to on our network?

Camera and recorder video streams, read-only, over an access path your team provides and controls. Rimward asks for no write access to cameras or their configuration, and no account on any other system at the site.

### Can Rimward reach our inverters, SCADA or plant control systems?

No, and it should not be able to. Nothing in the product needs plant control data, so the access you grant should be scoped to video and nothing else.

### How are camera credentials stored and used?

As infrastructure secrets: encrypted, access-controlled, rotatable and audited. Every use is logged. Rotate or revoke them at any time. Affected sites visibly change readiness instead of silently missing alerts.

### Most of our cameras are Hikvision or Dahua.

Common across European solar estates, and Rimward reads what is there. Whether that hardware belongs on your network is a question for your own security policy, not a call Rimward makes for you.

### We are in scope for NIS2. What do you provide for supplier assessment?

What a supply-chain review needs: what Rimward connects to, what it stores and where, who can access it, how access is logged, and our incident-notification commitments.

## Video, people and the law

Site cameras record people: your technicians, contractors and anyone who climbs the fence. Most resulting obligations remain yours.

### Who is responsible for video data and its retention?

You remain the controller. Quack Labs acts as processor on your documented instructions, and retention follows your settings and contract. Subprocessors and EEA-transfer safeguards are available on request.

### Our own technicians and subcontractors are filmed.

That obligation is yours, and it exists whether or not Rimward is involved. Lawful basis, signage, information notices, works-council consultation and any impact assessment stay with you as the operator.

### Do you read licence plates?

Rimward can extract visible plate text and crops. Several countries regulate automated plate reading separately. In France, the CNIL treats it as a distinct category. Configure it per site and enable it only by deliberate decision.

### Do you do facial recognition?

No. Rimward classifies activity and tracks movement inside a single event; no facial recognition, no biometric identification, not built for worker surveillance. Unless separately agreed in writing, your video does not train our models.

## Who acts, and what this costs

Rimward detects, qualifies and records. Everything after that belongs to people who are not us, and the boundary should be clear before you sign.

### A provider already monitors our sites.

Keep them. Rimward decides what deserves their attention and hands the evidence over with it. Replacing your monitoring contract is not the product.

### Who calls the police, and does this count as a levée de doute?

Rimward supplies evidence for your monitoring provider’s verification (levée de doute). Your designated operator remains responsible for contacting police.

### What happens when Rimward gets one wrong?

Every alert states its reason, confidence and source views. A dismissal is recorded, not deleted. We do not promise zero false alerts. We make alert quality measurable and reviewable.

### Will this lower our insurance premium?

We do not promise that. What Rimward produces is the record brokers and insurers ask for at renewal and after a claim. Whether that moves your premium is between you, your broker and your insurer.

### How is Rimward priced?

Rimward is a per-site subscription, priced for each site’s needs. There is no per-alert charge because the product is designed to remove noise, not bill for it. The assessment has a separate scope and price, agreed in advance.

### You are an early-stage company. What happens to our evidence if you stop?

A fair question, and one to settle before signing. Evidence and incident records are exportable in a documented format, and camera access is yours to revoke. Export and deletion terms belong in the contract.
